Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by abnormally increased sweating in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Like many manifestations of social anxiety it can be considered a silent handicap.
The driving dynamic that is at play with “sweating more because they are nervous” is one’s internal critical script. The critical script is one of five mind states. The content in the critical script goes something like “people can see I’m nervous”, “people can see I’m a fraud”, “people can see who I really am. When the first sensation of fight or flight adrenaline kicks in the sufferer’s critical script goes into “this is bad” mode. This content increases nervous system activity, and drives the adrenaline which drives the sweating! For more information on the critical script and mind states click here.
