The bio-card is a plastic card which measures skin temperature. This is a biofeedback modality and therapeutic technique which is used extensively at Berent Associates. After placing the thumb of your dominant hand on the card for 10 seconds a color will appear on the card.
This color represents changing degrees of relaxation or stress based on the physiological process of vaso-dilation and vaso-constriction.Dry warm hands represent relaxation. Cold, cool, or sweaty hands represent stress.
The book “Work Makes Me Nervous: Overcome Anxiety and Build the Confidence to Succeed” teaches a detailed methodology for use of the card. The self help audio CD programs “Public Speaking Anxiety” and “Comprehensive Therapy” also incorporate the use of this important therapeutic tool.
